Spiked Gun This procedure is used to indicate that a gun or gun line is safe to overrun, advance through, and/or be occupied by infantry. On the order to spike the gun, the tube will be wormed and sponged, with the sponge being left in the tube after the second sponging and the rammer protruding from the muzzle . Artillery pieces are not to be charged or assaulted in any manner except as previously arranged in a scripted scenario, and then only at a prearranged time and signal. The Spiked Gun as pictured above with the rammer protruding from the muzzle of the gun, should be accompanied by all other implements returned to the proper hangers, and all cannoneers posted at or behind the limber. |
